Electoral Commission’s (IEBC) Technical Working Group (TWG) Committee on Legal Reforms in Nakuru

The Commission’s Technical Working Committee on legal reforms in collaboration with the Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA) is holding a workshop to discuss the electoral legal reform agenda for better management of the electoral process.
 
Boniface Mc Olwal, @ELGIA_Africa Programme Manager, observed that there was need for the Commission to spearhead meaningful reforms that will inform how elections will be managed going forward.
 
The workshop seeks to identify areas for amendments in the election statutes and regulations.
Director Legal Services Chrispine Owiye informed the participants that the Commission has an uphill task to identify, propose and process legal reforms to become law, which includes engaging the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament for presentation of the proposals to the House for consideration. The Commission also purposes to engage election stakeholders in this endeavour.
