ELGIA participated in a closed-door policy dialogue convened by the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) and the Center for Multiparty Democracy (CMD).

On 24th November in Nairobi, the Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA) participated in a closed-door policy dialogue convened by the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) and the Center for Multiparty Democracy (CMD).

 

The meeting sought to advance women’s leadership in promoting issue-based politics and inclusive governance as a foundation for democratic consolidation and sustainable development.

 

Through validating priority issues, fostering inclusive engagement with women leaders, youth, and civic actors, and securing commitments from women parliamentarians, the dialogue culminated in the development of a roadmap to strengthen women’s political participation and mainstream issue-based politics in the 18 months leading to the 2027 general elections.

 

This effort aligns with the Kenya Institutional Strengthening Program (KISP), supported by the British High Commission.
