ELGIA supports The Supreme Court of Uganda, the Judiciary Training Institute (JTI Uganda) on EDR

The high level workshop was officiated by the Hon. Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, Chief Justice of the Republic of Uganda and attended by all the Supreme Court Judges and the JTI. The workshop was also addressed by the Hon Justice Rizine Mzikamanda, Chief Justice of Malawi, and the Hon. Lady Justice Martha Koome, Chief Justice of Kenya.

The workshop deliberated on key aspects of EDR including; pre-trial process, filing of Presidential Petitions and interlocutory applications; Constitutional, legal and administrative framework for EDR and the role of the Supreme Court; substantive issues in the Presidential Petitions and management; the role of technology in Electoral Disputes, practical simulation of electoral process, judgement writing in Presidential Election Petition, among others.

To foster comparative experience and peer learning, the workshop invited Supreme Court and Constitutional Courts from Kenya, Zambia and Malawi to share practical experiences on EDR processes from their respective countries.
