Joint Pre-Election Dispute Resolution Debrief

On Thursday 11 th May 2023 , @ELGIA_Africa convened a Joint Pre-Election Dispute Resolution Debrief alongside key Election Dispute Resolution (EDR) institutions such as the Judiciary Committee on Elections, (JCE) The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission, (@IEBCKenya),The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (@kenya_ppdt) and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (@ORPPKenya). The workshop aims to reflect on the pre-election dispute resolution in the 2022 electoral cycle as well as deliberate on emerging jurisprudence on pre-election EDR from the 2022 General Election Cycle.

On Friday 12th May 2023 - Day 2 of the Joint Pre-Election Dispute Resolution (EDR) Debriefs Workshop is currently underway with the first session discussing the Resolution of Election Offences and Election Malpractices. The Judiciary Committee on Elections(JCE) emphasised the need to examine the timelines within which election offences should be completed as well as mapping out malpractices that touch on election offences. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (@IEBCKenya) noted that there’s need to empower the commission to substantively address electoral offenses in the dispensation of their mandate.
