ELGIA and ELOG convene Uchaguzi platform on critical electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 General Elections
The Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA), in collaboration with the Election Observation Group (ELOG), is convening members of the Uchaguzi platform, including Transparency International (TI), the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), and key electoral stakeholders, for a two-day retreat aimed at advancing critical electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The retreat will provide an opportunity for participants to share updates on ongoing reforms within their respective institutions and to consolidate priority reform areas that are essential for the upcoming elections. A key outcome of the retreat will be the development of a reform implementation matrix, a Civil Society Organization (CSO) tool designed to monitor and advocate for the adoption of these reforms.
The joint recommendations from the technical team will be presented to key decision-makers, including Parliament, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP), the Judiciary Committee on Elections (JCE), the Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC), and relevant Constitutional and Independent Commissions. These recommendations will serve as a foundation for lobbying and advocating for the adoption of minimum electoral reforms necessary for a transparent and inclusive 2027 General Election
