
ELGIA ,Zambia (JCEM) highlights by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT)
Day three of the Consultative Workshop between the Zambian and Kenyan Judiciary on Electoral Disputes Resolution (EDR) in Nairobi featured a series of insightful presentations that deepened participants' knowledge of key aspects related to electoral disputes.
The day began with comprehensive highlights by the chair of the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT), on its role in resolving disputes involving political parties. Presentations were also made about the Judicial Service Commission's (JSC) journey, emphasizing efforts to enhance judicial independence, efficiency, and accountability.
Following this, Ms.Lillian Mahiri, former Vice Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and the Director of Legal at IEBC delivered informative presentations on IEBC's dispute resolution framework and its milestones. These sessions collectively enriched participants' understanding of the multifaceted nature of electoral dispute resolution and facilitated a fruitful exchange of ideas between the Zambian and Kenyan judiciary representatives
